Written for Teletext: - go-getting Gemini livewire
Russell Brand, zany, outspoken host of TV's Big Brother's Big
Mouth, was
born on June 5 1975 in Gray's, Essex.
A versatile and imaginative Gemini, he is an actor, stand-up comic
and radio
personality, as well as TV presenter - and, with his enthusiastic
sunsign,
tends to have several projects on the go at once.
Brand's Essex
childhood with his single mother was said to be normal and
suburban - but, as happens to many Geminis, life soon got complicated.
From 12, he was bulimic and depressive - and also
suspected to be
hypermaniac and bi-polar... and he was expelled from several schools.
Russell has said openly that he has a tendency towards destructiveness
- live-for-the-moment Geminis like him, with his impatient Aries
streak, can
be outrageous... but also very clever.
He was sacked from several jobs, including from
his presenting work at MTV,
when, on September 12 2001, he turned up at the studio dressed
up as Osama
bin Laden.
A restlessly intelligent Gemini, he said, 'I don't
want to die only known as
that mad bloke from Big Brother - I want to do something that has
value,
worth, poetry and momentum'.
Brand has an intuitive, emotional side with his Venus in Cancer,
and has
sometimes professed a great desire to fall in love - recently involved
with
a student, he has mostly tended to prefer the company of his beloved
cat
Morrissey to most other people's.
With his Venus influenced by novelty-loving Uranus,
he has said he has found
fidelity hard to sustain.
Now that Russell has gone past his Saturn return - which happens
to everyone
between the ages of 28 and 30 - there's little in his chart to
suggest he
will continue to be a hell-raiser.
He says he stopped being a heroin and crack addict
over three years ago -
he dried out after he was caught doing drugs in the toilet at his
agent's
Xmas party.
He says his dress sense makes him look like 'an
S and M Willy Wonka' - with
Moon, Mars and Jupiter in pioneering Aries he may, sometime, set
himself
up as a very original style/fashion icon, moving right away from
his current
penchant for Byronic scarves and black clothes.
Mars and Jupiter in raunchy Aries make Brand passionate
about sex - he calls
his mega- pleasure in it 'life force' , but avows he's not a 'sex
addict'.
Named by Time Out as Best Stand-up Comedian in 2006, Brand loves
performing
solo - his three independent Aries planets like to be number one,
or the
only one - and also to make people laugh.
West End, maybe Broadway comic theatre figures strongly
in his future - when
he'll relish the stringent demands of live performing - with groups
of
actors rather than just solo in stand-up - and his Aries planets
will always
look for new challenges.
His central goals in stand-up and life are, he says, 'authenticity,
honesty
and revolution' - he could in future, amongst other things, found
a
magnificent cat sanctuary in a foreign country.
