Written for Teletext: - tough, enduring Taurus?
Lily
Allen, daughter of British actor and comic Keith Allen, was born
on
2 May 1985, in London.
She found fame the modern way, uploading her music onto community
website
MySpace - her songs were positively reviewed and played by big-shot
media
outlets such as the NME, Observer newspaper and Radio 1.
Sudden stardom at an early age is unusual for Taureans
like Lily, but her
solid, level-headed sunsign may help her to control it quite cleverly,
perhaps after a few teething pains.
Between the ages of 5 and 14, Lily attended 12 schools
(her parents split
when she
was 4) - a tough and unnerving ordeal for a Taurus...this sign
craves roots.
Her security-seeking Taurus side also relishes her influx of cash
in her
youth - a big ambition was always to buy her own house.
With Mars in Gemini and Jupiter in Aquarius, Lily has a feisty
spirit of
enterprise
and will always be a little non-conformist.
At 15, she lived in a hostel in Ibiza for a while
(her family thought she
was staying with friends), working in a record shop and selling
ecstasy to
Clubbers.
She then met music business people.
She sang them songs which (with her quick-witted planets in Aries)
she made
up on the spot, lying that she'd composed all her life, and they
wrote
backing tracks for one of her spontaneous songs - this became her
hit
'Smile'.
Lily's Venus in Aries gives her a go-it-alone streak
- she refused to be
in a girl band at 15, wanting to sing solo.
Pop festivals suit her new-agey Jupiter Aquarius - she has attended
Glastonbury festival all her life, but first sang live there herself
only
last year.
An unaffected, blunt Taurean, with Mercury in outspoken Aries,
Lily can be
big-mouthed - she said she would take 'gak' (cocaine) to celebrate
her
number one chart spot with 'Smile'.
She later said she'd only just heard the word 'gak'
that day and just felt
like using it - and she in fact celebrated by getting 'trashed'
on cider
(Taurus can drink!).
She slagged off her old schoolmate Luke Pritchard
of the Kooks, but later
wanted to make amends, and has alternated scathing criticism of
others and
self-deprecation on her popular internet blog.
Lily's album, 'Alright, Still' is full of Mercury Aries-type
punchy, shoot-from-the-hip lyrics.
She feared these were too offensive, saying, 'I
never really thought anyone
would hear them, now I don't know what to do!'
Lily says she is 'too lazy' to learn an instrument but, ever the
financially-aware, sensible Taurus she reflects that you make money
by (like
her) creating your own songs, not singing other people's.
Lily is a lucky person - career goodies will continue
to drop into her lap
and she will soon be keen on combining an acting career with her
singing.
With Moon in Libra she really needs a partner, and with her sometimes
impulsive Aries Venus may make a sudden marriage (to a sports-mad
scientific
type!) in a couple of years.
